The goals of our school are to support you in learning to think, communicate and utilize your own potential in another language environment and culture.
Our method focuses on the simultaneous development of the four skills in learning language: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Our teaching is based on the communicative method with various didactic materials. The method goes beyond simply teaching students to memorize words. Rather, students will also learn the historical and cultural backgrounds of the meaning. We offer classes at a variety of levels from beginner to advanced, with topics as wide – ranging as food, films, business, history and travel. We know you will find something for you.

What people say about us

After a three year relationship with my Ukrainian girlfriend, I decided I had to learn conversation Russian and through a friend, was introduced to the Slavic Education Center in Kiev. At first I was told I had to learn to read Russian and to my surprise after only a few lessons, I was able to read complete sentenses.

I soon realized that my teacher Tetiana is a professional languiste, very patient and full of learning tricks that makes learning Russian very interesting. I would not hesitate to recommend Slavic Education Center to anyone who wish to learn the Russian language.

The use of Skype is for me the perfect medium since I live outside of the Ukraine and the cost of the program is fantastic.

Job well done.

I would highly recommend Tetiana at Slavic Education Center for Russian lessons. She is truly the most useful online teacher I’ve ever had. I’ve been taking Russian lessons with Tetiana for 6 months and we’ve made great progress. Tetiana has access to a full library of Russian textbooks, audio recordings, and grammar exercises which she has shared with me over this period of time for classwork and homework assignments. We’ve worked on vocabulary, speaking, and lots of grammar. I’ve taken Russian lessons before in the past, but I’ve always had a problem with the grammar aspect of the language. Together we’ve worked intensively on many aspects of Russian grammar and there has been much improvement. I can honestly say that I’ve never gone this deeply into grammar with any other course, program or teacher. Her classes are challenging, yet encourage me to want to learn more. If you’re looking to learn Russian, look no further!

English Teacher

I have been taking beginner Russian lessons at Slavic Education Center for several months and have seen great progress in my knowledge of Russian. Dima and Tanya, the owners, are very friendly and not only want to help people improve their language skills, but also have the best possible experience in Kyiv. They are great resources for someone new(er) to the city. Tanya is also my Russian teacher, and she is great! She makes sure to explain both the language and the related cultural aspects, so it is well-rounded learning. Also, she speaks English and has knowledge of many other languages, so I am able to ask her a lot of grammar and clarification questions throughout my lessons and get answers straight away in a language I already know/have learned, which is a huge help! Tanya and I work together on how to proceed with lessons; meaning she makes the general plan as the teacher, but if I need extra practice or want to learn a specific set of vocabulary she is more than happy to incorporate these suggestions into our lessons. Additionally, Tanya is very flexible with scheduling our lessons around my crazy work schedule, so we ensure a consistent lesson schedule with lessons at the school or via Skype. The prices for lessons are quite reasonable, and way better than all of the mainstream Russian/Ukrainian schools in the center of Kyiv.

I definitely recommend Slavic Education Center for anyone who wants to start learning and/or improve their Russian/Ukrainian language skills.

Her classes are useful entertaining and interesting. I advice whoever planing to learns language (Russian) to go to Slavic education center because it won’t be a waste of time energy and money .
منذ شهرين و أنا اتعلَّم اللغة الروسية في معهد” سلافيك”. المستوى الذي وصلت له في اللغة الروسية تحسن بشكل ملحوظ. كنت اتعلَّم اللغة الروسية في معاهد اخرى، لكن كان لا جدوى منها. انصح بهذا المعهد.

I have been taking private, individualized Russian language classes through the Slavic Education Center for roughly one month, having switched from another program that did not suit my needs. Tanya is a top-notch teacher—patient, flexible, knowledgeable, and fun. Her lessons are incredibly enjoyable, and have allowed me to significantly improve my reading, speaking, and writing abilities. The curriculum is challenging and has prepared me well for a wide variety of situations where communication is critical. From simply asking directions to get around, to interviewing people in order to gather information for my research on human rights in Ukraine, I feel much more confident than I did previously. I highly recommend the Slavic Education Center for native English speakers looking to improve their Russian or Ukrainian.

I am more than happy with my Russian language classes. The way we work is focused on my specific needs, which is really helpfull. The staff is very friendly and they do their best to support the student’ individual learning process. Having such a fantastic enviroment for learning language is probably the best you can have. So if you are looking for great courses with great people, go here!

I have had the pleasure of working with Dmytro on several news pieces in Crimea region in difficult times, and I can confidently say that he is motivated and responsible person. As such, he will be very positive addition to your company. As a staff cameraman/picture editor with Al Jazeera, I feel that I know Dmytro quite well. He was working as a freelance fixer/field producer with Al Jazeera on several occasions during 2014 and 2015. In this role he had considerable amount of responsibilities and he handled them effortlessly. He was able to balance determination with flexibility, and was precise and punctual. He showed skills to communicate with both sides involved in conflicts, and due to his dedication and attention to details we were able to get excellent news packages. Dmytro was important, effective and integral part of the team. Based on my observation, he clearly has the interest to excel in this field, and based on his performance, he clearly has the ability to achieve success. I therefore highly recommend him to position that requires skills mentioned above.

As a former Peace Corps Volunteer in Simferopol, I collaborated with Dmytro on various youth development projects such as arranging and conducting an English speaking club at the Heidelberg Center, a German NGO and Language Exchange Club Simferopol for nearly two years. He is a hard-working and energetic individual who puts his 110% into any tasks! His international experiences and cooperation with people from multicultural backgrounds makes him a perfect fit for being a co-owner of the Slavic Education Center.

I got to know Dmytro in 2010 when working as a German volunteer on various projects in Crimea. Dmytro is a sensational organiser who puts his whole heart in each of his projects. Together, we’ve made lots of experiences in multi-culutral teams. Honesty and openness are the basis of international cooperation. Dmytro has these traits and I am sure he will apply them at his language school, thereby creating a positive learning environment for Ukrainian as well as foreign language students.

Jannick Hansen

As a former Peace Corps Community Development Volunteer I’ve worked closely with Dmytro. Besides being a valued colleague, he was instrumental in helping me integrate in my new life in Crimea. Dmytro made sure that I felt never alone by introducing me immediately to his large network of friends and included me in every social activity. He navigated the byzantine Ukrainian bureaucracy for me, dealt with my erratic landlord, and always kept a watchful eye that I was safe. He has many talents: community and volunteer organiser, nonprofit program manager, founder of the wildly successful Language Exchange Club in Simferopol, Crimea, interpreter and fixer for international news-outlets. But what really sets him apart is his infectious enthusiasm and passion for whatever he does, his exceptional people skills, and his genuine interest in other cultures and their people. He dreams big and thinks out of the box. With Dmytro you won’t just get language lessons but a whole experience. He loves being around foreigners and takes great pleasure in introducing them to his culture and country. He even might teach you how to cook a killer Borscht!

Dagmar Spira

U.S. Peace Corps Community Development Volunteer

I would like to thank Dmytro for his excellent work as a fixer for our crew in Crimea. Dmytro was very knowledgeable of area, always bringing great contacts from all sides of problem, Russians, Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars, giving ideas and helping us without any great hassle get accreditations for referendum when officials in Crimea complicated the process. And also after leaving Crimea, whenever I contacted him, Dmytro always gave me ideas and contacts for my work on stories from Ukraine.

Recently I used his professional approach when working on stories from Chernobyl, this time it was mostly translation. Dmytro speaks Russian, Ukrainian and English, and although I was not sure what will be exact time of interviews, he made himself very flexible, also helped to organize transport. It is always great pleasure to work with Dmytro Prutylenko, I would recommend him anytime.
